It seems like a never-ending battle for Poinciana residents to get some decent food, healthcare and entertainment in the area.  As I drove by the empty lot besides Burger King that was supposed to go to Chili's, I noticed a Land For Sale sign instead of the big red and green pepper.  Upon doing some research on the internet, there seems to be a rumor that Chili's backed out, even giving up the deposit they had down.  This is of course speculative, but seems like a reasonable explanation.

Oh what I would give to bring visitors to my home to a decent sit-down establishment.  I wonder if Starbucks or Wendy's are going to move ahead?  If Chili's thinks the market isn't right, I can't imagine why Starbucks would.

Of course, we don't read about such negative things in our trusty Poinciana Pioneer.  They fail to mention when businesses back out.  Actually, they don't do a real good job of letting us know when businesses sign up!

Re: No Chili's For Poinciana?

the new mall next to it. Solivita Marketplace, The shops at Bellago and more that I probably havent mentioned. Still the roads are a problem because there is virtually one road in and out, even with the expansion of Poinciana Blvd. and the road expansion off Marigold, that does not solve all are problems. Why has Poinciana been so hard stricken with Real Estate wows? Its not because of lack of expansion. Maybe the roads are one reason, or part of it, and maybe the commercial property is another. Granted we have grown so much but then you have to ask yourself, really with what. The Loop has made a huge difference for Hunters Creek! Yet we still get strip malls and over size stip malls. Chillis pulls out and you ask why? Wendys pulls out and you ask why? How many other companys have pulled out that we have no idea about and still we ask why? Maybe it has to do with some stupid color codes for buildings. Ask Martins BBq who had to change there awnings. Maybe its the association who collects association fees and says that the money is going to improve and widen roads, and keep are area clean yet I see it getting more run down than it was 6 years ago. Maybe someone should demand an accounting of this money. Better yet, maybe we the residents should have a say were it goes. Or maybe we should incorperate Poinciana into a city and put the APV out of buisness. Know the APV will tell you property taxes will go up because of what a city needs (police, fire, hospitals)ect. But if we do incorperate, maybe will stop Avatar from driving price up on places like Chillis and stupid color codes and we can get other realtor groups in here. The problem is we are expanding but yet were are the Kohls, Circuit Citys, Big name restaurants like Macoroni Grill, or malls, like the loop with movie theaters. Maybe they would come if the APV and Avatar dont drive up the prices and enforce dumb rules. Maybe if we incorperate we might get roads constructed for easier access, which alot of people and potential home buyers avoid in this area because of this. As much that has come and as much as the Apv says it has done, were is the break through. The apv would tell you back in 1980's when this community was being developed and assumed to be this big or bigger they never addressed this issues that are here now. They didnt invision that with growth we need hospitals, access roads, shopping centers of relevance, schools, and much more. Yet they are working on this now. How good is it to try to correct mistakes made from poor judgement. Yet we are told we are working on it. Maybe they should inform the communit better with plans of what is comming and what they are doing to make them stay and not pull out. Im tired to hear we are working on it and we done so much already. I want to here what they can do to lure big construction groups with big projects, a elementary, middle and high school in every village if not more than one of each. Stop telling us what you have done and stop driving people and industry away. Start doing what you have to to make Poinciana attractive to people and home buyers and industry that makes a difference for people to stay and people to buy. Stop putting Poinciana and its residents in bigger dire straights were they are afraid of loosing there home like hundreds already have. What oncee looked attractive is on the verge of disaster. Maybe we the residents should start to incorperate and take are city back and move foward

Living in Poinciana for 6 years I have seen alot of growth in this area. Like mentioned above Lowes the Walmart and the new mall next to it. Re: No Chili's For Poinciana?

I have lived in Poinciana since 1989, so let me just say it is a blessing to have almost anything, on the other hand I would like to have more choices. I have heard that Burger King had something to do with Chillis backing out. I know that when Burger King first opened they had a contract stating no other food establishments could come in for like 5 or 6 years, hence the time passed and we got Denny’s. In my opinion the residents here get the grub choice for fast food. Burger King I have banned, there customer service doesn’t exists and they are slow as molasses, Denny’s...well what can I say there running a close race with Burger King, finally we get Starbucks and I am surprised because I didn’t think the income warranted that, lol, but I am a sucker for a great frappacino so I am happy =) but when and where will I be able to go out to dinner with my family sit down and have someone serve us a good meal and maybe even catch a movie, without having to travel to Disney World??? I feel like we have all waited long enough and disserve some good entertainment/dining out here, after all we do have that grueling haul down Cypress Parkway, Pleasant Hill, Poinciana Blvd and JohnYoung e v e r y d a y don’t we disserve a little something as residents who pay their dues????

Re: No Chili's For Poinciana?

Poinciana has grown tremendously in the past decade, but it still lacks a lot of entertainment, specially night life, shopping and dinning. This area has a lot of potential but we need more leaders and entrepenuours. We need to stop taking our money to Orlando and other areas and spending it in our community instead. I would like to know why is there so much difficulty and opposition for new businesses, specially bars, Let the residents of Poinciana have some freaking fun already!!! who is behind all of this opposition? we need to make ourselves count on the census and show the idiots running osceola county that we desperately need more options, more roads, more businesses, more shopping, more restaurants and more bars, our homes and other investments will acquire more value, our community needs it so we all need to make ourselves count!!!
